De var i butikken for å handle kosher-mat til sabbaten da de hørte skuddsalver fra etasjen over. Skrekkslagne gjemte de seg i fryserommet i kjelleren i minus tre grader i fem timer.

En av dem fikk ringt en onkel som befant seg bak politisperringene sammen med hundrevis av engstelige beboere som hadde blitt evakuert fra hjemmene sine i nærheten.

‘We know these people are monsters and would not hesitate to kill Jewish people. They targeted the supermarket because it was run by Jews.

‘In the past year 7,000 Jews have already left France and after this there will be many thousands more. We are not safe in France any more. There is no future for Jews here in France . We are finished in France.’
