Children at one of the state schools taken over by hardline Muslims are being “programmed” and have been “drilled” by their teachers to lie to Ofsted inspectors investigating the plot, according to a parent.
Mohammed Zabar, the father of a 10-year-old girl attending Oldknow Academy in Birmingham, today becomes the first person to speak openly about events at his daughter’s school.
Mr Zabar, 44, decided to break his silence after The Sunday Telegraphdescribed how teachers at the supposedly secular school led children in anti-Christian chanting, stopped them from celebrating Christmas, organised subsidised trips to Mecca and required all pupils to learn Arabic.
The successful non-Muslim head, Bhupinder Kondal, who achieved an Ofsted rating of “outstanding”, has been driven from her post. Four of the six-strong management team have left in the past six months.
Mr Zabar spoke out as a former teacher at another school in the city targeted, Park View, told The Sunday Telegraph that he repeatedly witnessed the man who is now effectively Park View’s head giving “mind-blowing” anti-Western assemblies to pupils at the school.
Nigel Sloan, the former head of drama at Park View, said that Mohammed Hussain told pupils in assembly that the Americans were, among other things, “the evil in the world” and “the cause of all famine”.
Mr Sloan said: “I heard Mr Hussain say those words. It was always anti-American, anti-Western propaganda. Some of his assemblies were so anti-American in their content as to be mind-blowing.”
Mr Hussain, a maths teacher at the time, is now Park View’s principal, effectively its head teacher. His nominal superior, the school’s respected executive head, Lindsey Clark, has told Ofsted inspectors that she has been marginalised by Mr Hussain and the hardline chairman of governors, Tahir Alam.
Denne utviklingen kommer ikke out of the blue.
The disclosure comes as one local Muslim MP said he was certain there was an “extensive operation” to import fundamentalist views into supposedly secular state schools and “split young people away from their parents”.
Khalid Mahmood, Labour MP for Birmingham Perry Barr, accused Birmingham city council of being “complicit” in the alleged plot and attacked the purported ringleader, Tahir Alam, saying: “It is very appropriately named Trojan Horse – that’s exactly what he has been doing.”
Mr Alam, the chairman of governors at one of the schools allegedly taken over, Park View, says the plot is a fabrication and denies any involvement.
The Telegraph can disclose new details of problems revealed at Park View by a highly unusual two snap Ofsted inspections earlier this month.
Inspectors were openly told by one senior teacher that the solution to Muslim problems would be the creation of a global Islamic state under sharia law, a key demand of extremists.
“It felt like a faith school. Islam permeated everything,” said a source close to the investigation. “All the citizenship teaching was about being a good Muslim and there was nothing that prepared pupils for life in modern Britain.”
Concerns have also been raised about Park View’s hiring procedures. Teachers at the school said that two people with virtually no teaching experience had been made subject heads, posts normally reached only after many years in the job.
One of the new subject heads had only just qualified as a teacher and the other, only a year or so more experienced, is his uncle.
“The suspicion is that they were appointed for their religious sympathies and their personal connections,” said a teacher.
