Pakistan: Journalist murdered over human rights reporting.
Journalist Amir Bakhsh Brohi was murdered for reporting human rights violations by police and powerful figures in Sindh province. The journalist was district reporter for Kawish, the largest Sindh-language daily newspaper in Sindh province, and for TV station KTN.

He was shot five times by three unidentified men in Shikarpur, according to the Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF). Brohi was taken to the local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Local journalists believe the murder was in response to Brohi’s reporting on sensitive issues that may have angered local police or feudal landlords.

Brohi is the second journalist to have been killed in Sindh Province in the last year.
