The Iranian state television network IRIB has prohibited the presence of a reformist spokeswoman in a televised debate on the presidential elections, the news agency ISNA reported Monday.
Elaheh Kulaie, the spokeswoman for reformist candidate Mostafa Moein, was not allowed to attend a debate with spokesmen for the other seven candidates.
«Just because she is a woman, Mrs. Kulaie was deprived of attending the debate, and this is a crystal-clear case of discrimination,» Moein told ISNA.
Moein said the incident further encouraged him to fight for the rights of women and against their discrimination in Iranian society. dpa
