Prosecutors at the UN war

Prose­cutors at the UN war cri­mes tri­bu­nal in The Hague are prepa­ring a joint trial of nine of the highest-ranking offi­cers accu­sed of play­ing inte­gral roles in the Sre­bre­nica kil­lings. Such a large trial would dwarf any other proce­e­dings the court has held.
The nine men face char­ges of war cri­mes and cri­mes against huma­nity, and five of them are accu­sed of com­pli­city to com­mit geno­cide.
A joint trial is pos­sible because eight of the gene­rals and senior offi­cers from the Bos­nian Serb Army have arrived in The Hague in recent mon­ths, their “volun­tary sur­ren­der” largely a result of inter­na­tio­nal pres­sure on Ser­bian aut­hori­ties. One man re2_kommentars at large.
