MOSCOW, Aug 15 – Russia is home to up to 50,000 skinheads, well over half the total worldwide, a Russian human rights group said in a report published Monday and quoted by the Interfax news agency.
Throughout Russia 35 five major skinhead groups operate, mostly in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, and at least seven parties and movements promoting xenophobia and racism have branches all over the country, the Moscow Bureau on Human Rights said in its report.
«Fifty to 60 percent of the Russian population support nationalistic slogans,» the report’s author, Semyon Charny, was quoted by Interfax as saying.(afp)
