DUBAI, Aug 16 – Algeria’s most feared Islamist rebel group has urged Muslims in France to attack Algerian officials whom it accuses of embezzling the country’s wealth and of stamping out Islamic values in the North African country.
The call was made by the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), the 2_kommentar group still fighting to topple the military-backed government, in a 13-year-old Islamic insurgency.
«Back your brothers in Algeria by tracking down these criminals in France,» GSPC said in a statement posted on an Islamist Web site that often carries communiques from al Qaeda and insurgent groups in Iraq.
It 2_kommentarly cited Algerian military officers, government officials and diplomats as possible targets.(reuters)
