WARSAW, Aug 29 2005 – Russian President Vladimir Putin is a vestige of the Soviet era, former US national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski said on the sidelines of a conference in Warsaw to mark the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Solidarity trade union.
«President Vladimir Putin is a vestige of the Soviet era, surrounded by people from the KGB,» said Polish-born Brzezinski, who served in the administration of former president Jimmy Carter, between 1977 to 1981.
«However, young Russians are open, intelligent, they study hard. And I think that in 10 years, the president of Russia will not be drawn from the KGB but probably from Harvard or the London School of Economics,» Brzezinski was quoted by Poland’s PAP news agency as saying.(afp)
