Det har kommet en rekke signaler fra Teheran de siste dager som alle peker i retning av at Iran akter å forkaste forhandlingstilbudet fra EU3 og Russland, USA og Kina. Alle krav fremstills som grove fornærmelser, nå sist forhandlingsfristen fra Sikkerhetsrådet.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad holdt tirsdag en tale til nasjonen der han sa Iran forkaster Sikkerhetsrådets frist til Iran om å svare på tilbudet fra det internasjonale samfunnn innen 31. august.

The Iranian president has rejected a UN security council deadline for it to suspend uranium enrichment, saying Tehran would not be pressured into stopping its nuclear programme.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday that his country would not give in to the United Nations’ threats.

In a speech broadcast live on state-run television, he said: «If some think they can still speak with threatening language to the Iranian nation, they must know that they are badly mistaken.

«My words are the words of the Iranian nation. Throughout Iran, there is one slogan: ‘The Iranian nation considers the peaceful use of nuclear fuel production technology its right.'»

The security council passed a resolution on Monday calling for Iran to suspend uranium enrichment by August 31 or face the threat of economic and diplomatic sanctions.(al-jazeera)

Iran har selv lovet å svare innen 22. august. Sikkerhetsrådet la seg derfor på en trygg margin, skulle man tro. Men nei, Iran er så fornærmet at det nå vurderer ikke å svare i det hele tatt.

Iran’s ambassador to the UN also rejected the resolution on Monday, saying it would make negotiations on an incentives package offered to Iran in June in exchange for suspending enrichment more difficult.(jazeera)
