Den russiske riksadvokaten sier de med sikkerhet vet at togavsporingen på linjen Moskva – St. Peetersburg fredag kveld, skyldtes en bombe. Minst 25 ble drept og 100 såret.
Vladimir Markin, chief spokesman for the Investigative Committee of the Russian Prosecutor-General’s Office, today said that a terrorism investigation had been launched.
«A crater was discovered, 1.5 meters in diameter and 0.7 meters deep, as well as fragments of an explosive device. We can say with certainty that this was a terrorist act,» Markin said. «Therefore an investigation has been opened on two counts — terrorism and illegal arms trafficking.»
On Saturday, Yekaterina Ivanova, one of the wounded passengers, told the NTV network that the evacuation was frustratingly slow.
«In the hospital, the doctors are better, the medical teams are working in harmony,» she said. «The young people from the Ministry of Emergency Situations carried us out on stretchers, but other people in uniform were just standing there and staring, and no one was even helping to carry out the wounded.»
Ms. Ivanova said rescue personnel did not manage to extract her from the train until 1:30 a.m., nearly four hours after the derailment.
