Fremgangsmåten er enkel: Slipp en pengeseddel på gulvet og gi en vennlig opplysning til offeret om at de har mistet penger på gulvet. Stjel så pengene idet de kommer ut av minibanken mens offeret bøyer seg ned for å plukke opp sin «mistede» pengeseddel.
‘I had put my pin number in and had pressed the button for the money and it was at that same moment that the man told me I had dropped the money.
‘I told him it wasn’t mine but he said it was as he saw me drop it.
‘I bent down to get it and when I got back up I waited for my cash to come out the machine, but it didn’t come.
‘It said on the screen “Your transaction has finished” and my card was given back to me.
‘It took me a while to register what had happened but I then twigged on. Another man had taken the money while I bent over. I had been completely conned.
‘It was a perfectly timed con. They knew what they were doing and must have rehearsed that hundreds of times. It was all over within seconds.’
