A leading German conservative vowed on Sunday to block Turkey’s entry into the European Union, raising the heat on a domestic debate days before a landmark EU vote on the issue.
Christian Social Union (CSU) party leader Edmund Stoiber made the comments a day after Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan accused the German opposition of exploiting the issue for domestic gain.
