PRISTINA, Aug 29 – Police increased security in Serb-populated enclaves all over Kosovo Monday amid fears of rising inter-ethnic tensions following the murder of two Serbs this weekend as Kosovo Serbs rallied to show their anger over the latest attacks.
«We increased the number of checkpoints all over Kosovo as well as the number of police patrols in the (Serb) enclaves,» senior police official Colin Aitken told reporters.
Several thousand Serbs in northern Kosovo as well as in the southeastern enclave Strpce protested against a drive-by shooting in which two Serbs were killed and two more injured by still unknown attackers, Belgrade’s news agency Beta reported. (afp)
