Tidligere Assistant Commissioner ved Scotland Yard, Tarique Ghaffur, sier at det er for mange ekstremister til at politiet og MI5 kan holde kontroll på dem.

Den muslimske pensjonerte politimannen forelår egne sentre for internering av de 3000 jihadistene.

“The time has come to set up special centres to detain these 3,000 extremists.

“These would be community-based centres where they would be risk-assessed and theologically examined.”

De må også gjennomgå et avradikaliseringssprogram. Ghaffur mener at dette vil fungere hvis imamer godkjenner leirene og utsteder fatwaer mot de som begår jihad-terror.

‘These centres would have oversight from vetted Muslim and other community leaders, who would ensure they stayed within the law.’

Fat chance.  Hvem skal gå god for de muslimske lederne?

‘Let us have a proper national debate about this, and not be afraid to speak openly for fear of offending any communities, or for the sake of political correctness.’

Maze Prison i Nord-Irland ble brukt til internering fra 1971 og frem til år 2000.

En av Tarique Ghaffurs tidligere kollegaer, Lord Blair, mener at internering er kontraproduktivt:

“We must not move to a situation where we are just sweeping up people.

“I mean, it reminds one of the events in Northern Ireland which led to the hunger strikes where you started to sweep up whole sets of a community, you angered that community enormously.

“The internment was not effective. The absolute thing we need now is the co-operation of the communities of Britain, particularly, I’m afraid it’s clear, the Muslim community.”

Don’t hold you breath, Lord Blair. De kommer ikke til å angi sine naboer og venner.
